PRODIGAL SUN
NOVEMBER 2024
Let your light so shine before men that they
may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven. (Matthew 5:16)
Who is coming for you?
Some time ago I was reading an account written by a doctor that was
questioning what he had observed over the years as people passed from this
life into the next. Unfortunately, I don’t recall all of the details or even
the name of the book, but still remember the sincerity of this man seeking
the answers.
He shared the absolute horror on an individuals face as they viewed
something or someone that had come to take them away. Another time the dying
person was screaming about the extreme fiery flames that were burning his
feet. Others had expressed viewing blue or white lights beckoning down a
long corridor or tunnel. Still others expressed absolute peace. I don’t
specifically recall the peaceful individuals being mentioned, but they would
have had to be there at times. Possible exceptions to the transition would
be Enoch and Elijah.
This doctor apparently had no spiritual beliefs, but over the years of
viewing these death situations came to question what was really happening.
His final conclusion was that the only place to possibly get these answers
would be in a Bible, which he acquired and began to study.
He connected the passage of Satan appearing as an angel of light with the
lighted corridor/tunnel coming to the conclusion that just because something
appears as light doesn’t make it the true light and only when too late do
you realize that was Satan’s last attempt to draw you into his web of
destruction.
The one who experienced fiery flames burning their feet was, I think,
receiving a last minute warning from God that they were headed in the wrong
direction. It is interesting that I remember giving those exact words to
someone on their death bed. Thankfully, that person called out to the Lord.
This doctor had been brought to my remembrance a week or two ago and I had
written down the question, but didn’t have any idea it was to be the title
of this month’s Prodigal. I don’t remember
much else of all he wrote, but we’ll look at departing in victory.
You can research it further…..
First on my list would have to be Jesus. We know the Father said, “This is
my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.” That seals the relationship, and
then we have Jesus praying, “Father, forgive them for they know not what
they do,” Jesus left the earthly domain praying forgiveness for His enemies.
That is a good example for us, also a reminder that if we do not forgive, we
will not be forgiven. That is a very sobering statement right out of the
Word of God. (Matthew 6:14-15) Truly, the little foxes in our lives spoil
everything. Is it possible they could spoil our eternity? If God’s Word is
true, the answer is yes.
Next would be the repentant thief on the cross who first mocked Jesus, then
had his spiritual eyes opened to Jesus life (doing nothing to be punished
for), recognized his own wickedness, asked for forgiveness, and was received
into Paradise.
Steven is next for as he looked up into he heavens before being stoned he
saw the glory of God and Jesus standing at the right hand of God. Then he
prayed, “Lord Jesus receive my spirit” and “Lord, do not charge them with
this sin.”
There is a song I only partially remember. It goes something like this,
“You’ve got to walk that lonesome valley, you’ve got to walk it by yourself.
No one else can walk it for you, you’ve got to walk it all alone.” That is
the road into eternity. Others may die at the same time as has recently
happened in North Carolina and Tennessee in the flood waters, but each
person is on an individual path. All are headed for one of two destinations,
but you have to do as that song says. You have to walk it by yourself, but
there will be someone unseen holding your hand guiding your steps, either
Satan who you have followed in deed, or Jesus Who has been the true Light on
your path.
The Bible repeatedly tells us how fragile and fleeting our life here on
earth is. Every day has examples of those truths but yesterday I watched, of
all things, the weather channel. They had a special of 100 mostly storms and
other events since 1814. (I think that was the earliest.) Every one of these
events was weather related, most without warning or understated danger
possibilities. In most, lives in the hundreds, even thousands were lost and
had to walk that lonesome valley. In the blink of an eye all of those people
stepped into one eternity or another, heaven or hell.
As you read Jesus accounts of the end days mentioned are famines,
pestilences, and earthquakes it is interesting that weather is a factor in
all of these, or at least in the first two. I think earthquakes were
mentioned also, but don’t remember the correlation which involved weather. I
think I made it through the first 40 or 50 storms but lost track in the
overload! Despite all of our technology we know very little of the things
that are truly important. Feed me, clothe me, and above all, entertain me,
are our mottos.
God is, and has been, shaking this nation along with the world trying to get
our attention before it is too late. As America continues to implode we’ll
see more and more disasters, more wickedness, and perversion of all types. A
prime example of this can be found right here in Pennsylvania. Philadelphia,
the city of Brotherly Love, boasts Children’s Hospital, a sanctuary for
ailing children. They are now chemically assisting sexual re-identification
and performing surgeries to the same. I am so sick and ashamed that we would
permit such atrocities in our state. We have had a wicked state run by
wicked men, and now we are seeing the rotted fruit they, and we, have
permitted to grow.
On a brighter side I’m seeing a people raising up and saying enough to much
the world is forcing upon us. God truly has a remnant he is purifying for
His purposes which is salvation for those who will turn their ears to hear.
Carrying this message is becoming more and more forbidden as the days slip
by. To this we must respond as Peter and John did in Acts 5:29 when they
said, “We ought to obey God rather than men.” It appears there may have been
more than Peter and John there as ‘other apostles’ is mentioned but in
chapters 3 & 4 only Peter and John are named. Either way, we have our
examples, and need to do as we are directed. If the cost seems too high,
pray for boldness, and do it anyway!
